No hot water coming ou of taps but...

Hi,

This morning when I got up there was no hot water coming out of the taps!

I have tried forcing cold water into the hot tap and letting it drain out (airlock?), I then seem to get hot water out of the tap for roughly 2 minutes before it drys up again!

Any suggestions, should I try the same trick again and again or is it a plumber job:eek:?

I really smell and desperately need a shower!!! Lol! :o

Any help would be greatly appreciated, by both myself and my work colleagues:rotfl:

Assuming from your description you have a hot water cylinder and large cold water storage tank in the loft, go into the loft and check there is actually water in the large tank.

If no give the ball valve a good wiggle to free it for now.

Hmm, no water in the tank and wiggle the ball value around but no luck. I guess I will have to call a plumber but thanks for your help guys...I never even knew there was a tank in the loft!:o:rotfl::o

Assuming you have mains water at your kitchen tap and no water entering the tank then you probably have dirt stuck in the ballcock, 1/2 hour job for a plumber or a good handyman.

The ballcock was stuck thanks to limescale. A very nice plumber has just replaced it and I am now looking forward to taking my cold off to a nice hot bath!

    Thanks for all your replies!!
