    Where do you bank now?
Most banks offer debit cards for even basic accounts.

You don't have to use photo ID when proving who you are.

If you don't have those documents such as the ones mentioned at Barclays, you could always apply for a driving licence or passport.

    Isn't that photo id?
  • im currently with nationwide and have alot of problems with them, ie standing orders not being paid dispite funds being there, and i currently have a flexi account which suited at the time and they havnt been very helpful with upgrading my account, since ive had to give up work and care for my partner fulltime, i guess they see benifits as a threat.
  • im afraid i asked barclays and they insisted on photo id
  • whilst i understand all the security of photo id etc, it feels like your being victimised because you choose not to have a credit or debit card and dont hold a passport or driving license, but recently realised one of these is needed to prove your ID, but as i say i guess now im on benefits this makes me a high risk factor.

You can apply online for bank accounts. Some can check you electronically, which means not physical documents are needed from you.
