Really tasty dog treats!

Hi guys,
I have posted here a few times about my troubled rescue dog Wilson who has severe problems with other dogs to the extent that he is going properly wild whenever he sees another dog (any dog, near or far!). I am black and blue from his thrashing about - he is a big lad and strong as heck when he gets going!
Anyway I am trying to divert his attention with food and having no success at all so far when other dogs are about - any other time he will do anything for grub! I have cut his food intake back to the bare minimum (he was underweight when I got him so has been getting lots of extras) and am walking him at least 7 miles a day - he is only about 18 months so has lots and lots of energy.
So my question is, what do your dogs find really really irresistable? I am looking for any ideas at all really, preferably really whiffy stuff that will distract and hopefully stop him building up to such an hysterical state!
Thanks in advance

well, ,my dog finds pretty much any food irresitable, but these are the current favourites:
Cheese (the stronger/smellier the better!)
Tripe sticks (the ones from asda are formed sticks rather than lumps of tripe) - I slice these into small pieces
Ham
Liver cake
oh.. and not to forget that perennial favourite, horse !!!!!!!0 -
horse !!!!!! is a bugg*r to get out of your pockets though.....
Warm roast chicken is always a good one. Smell is important to dogs, so the smellier the better. A lot of dogs love the smell of garlic (although there is a school of thought that says garlic may be bad for dogs)Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -

because dogs breath isn't bad enough already?!!0 -
Garlic has antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties, may make the dogs breath smell better long term!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Fantastic! Garlic sausage is a brilliant suggestion, I wouldn't have thought of that but I am sure he will love it - I will raid my parents' fridge tomorrow, my Dad loves Aldi garlic sausage too
I just roasted a big chicken so thats tomorrows walk sorted - think I will pass on the horse droppings though, my coat pocket contents have become weird enough since becoming a dog person0 -

Our boy is a big fan of carrots0 -
I guess you need somthing that he will like that smells as strong as possible!
My dog will eat anything so is not really a good marker (the only thing we have found so far that he doesn't like is Lemon!!)
Does your dog like fish I get mine crispy fish skin treats like these which he loves and are good for him but they do Stink  so maybe the smell will help distract him? You can get various sizes like these:

Good luck with your dog you do sound like you are putting a lot of effort in, hope everything works out for you
ps. I also have the coat pocket issue too!! Always seems to be some bits floating about in my pocket even when I think I have given him them all! :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

Another great suggestion Catlou - I love this site
And thanks - I am putting SO much effort in its almost become a full time job - I came so close to giving him back to the rescue and am now determined to see him relaxed and happy! Even though he is definitley NOT what I thought I was signing up for, I am learning so much and have a whole new (healthier!) lifestyle0 -
I would only give very tiny amounts of any processed food, like sausage, due to salt and other additives.
Home made liver cake is a good option though. And you can make it in bulk and freeze it until needed.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0
