The future

Hi guys
Dont know if this is the right section. move if it can go elsewher please.
Just looking for some advice and dont know who i would talk to seriously about it.
I was just wondering now what the future should hold for me now im almost out of debt. About £400 ~ 2 months left to go. The biggest debts are out the road
I honestly dont know what to do now that i feel im not tied down. I dont feel like going on Holiday simply cos i dont want to spend my money on something that would end in 2 weeks. However i do feel the need to get away. Im fed up with my life here and really need a change so i would love to take a year out work and go travelling and really get away. But i wouldnt have a job to come back too. At least i dont think. Although dont know if id want the job. Then what do i do with my flat. Rent it out? I also wont have a credit card to do this as im probably going to be blacklisted for a few years. It would also require loads of saving up before i go and i would like to do it asap.
Another thing i would love to do is actually pack up and move away. i.e. Australia. Ive always wanted to do this but i dont think i have a trade where id be able to find a job easily.
I feel i really need a new life but dont know how to go about it. Its as if ive got no real interest in carrying on my life here. (Dont take that the wrong way . I do want to carry on life, just not here).
Your opinions and ideas would be interesting
Cheers wdamci

Why not try some voluntary work (here, not abroad) in a context that interests you until you feel more able to decide what you want to do?(AKA HRH_MUngo)

What do you mean by voluntary work? Dont think it would be my thing but do you have some examples? Im already working at the minute and i dont think id have the time. Maybe at the weekends i suppose.0

What are you trained in? There are jobs all over the world in all walks of life, and you may get short term visa for a number of countries, I think you can work within Europe without Visa's but I could be wrong!!
As for the money, although you feel the need to get away quick, the ties are nearly severed, and that must be a great feeling, but its never worth going with nothing, so maybe set yourself a date, and work towards it.....you don't sound very sure at the moment, about your feelings, and what you really want to do, so give yourself a few debt free months to settle down, research jobs/countries etc, and save and then the world will be your oyster!!
I would have thought it would be a good idea to hold onto your property and rent it out initially, but then if you do settle elsewhere you could sell it at a later date, but if you keep hold for a while at least if you dont find what you are looking for you have a base to come back to!

Well, I supposed I meant something like helping at a school, or youth club, or Guides etc if you like children, or volunteering at an animal rescue centre if you like animals, or offering to help with elderly people if that's your thing, or hospital/prison visiting, or running the coffee club for the church if you attend one. Something you are interested in that helps other people.
I only meant a couple of nights a week or a weekend, to give yourself some breathing space until you'd decided what to do.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

i'd suggest going away for a few days, doesn't need ot be expensive just not in your usual surroundings. then make a list, either physically or mentally of all the reasons to stay where you are and all the reasons to go. i'd also make a list of places to go and what to do there. if you are moving permenantly you'll need the basics ie someplace to live and an income. remember however bad your feeling now is nothing compared to being in a strange country with no friends or family so consider being away from your folks/best freind etc
also bad days pass. a few weeks ago i had a bad day (men troubel coupled with a selfish friend who always blabbed her probs but wouldnt listen to mine) and i decided on the spur of the moment i was selling up and leaving aberdeen, in fact i was leaving scotlandan going down south. but when i actually spent more than five minutes on it i realised that there was no place i could go or do. then i decided if i got my teaching degree next year the world would be my proverbial oyster, so i'm sticking in here in the mean time (tho after kicking the guy and the friend to the curb i'm feeling much better) and maybe in a couple of years i can get away if it's still what i want.
woooooh sorry to blabber and hijack your thread there! lolz0 -
Was watching telly for 15 mins and now ive got loads to reply to. Thanks.
Dont think the volunteering is for me. Childrens a definate no no. They scare the hell out of me lol. Only kidding. Just wouldnt feel comfortable simply because im a guy. I done my work experience at a vets years ago and came home nearly crying after seeing a puppy retriever had been abused and watched a dog getting put down. so definetely not animals. Had enough hospitals and prisons to last a lifetime. Guess its just not for me
Im a lab technician but only have an HNC in Chemistry. Wish i had some sort of trade.
I guess it could be just a poor day im having. My mind does tend to wander like this when im feeling low and i feel i need to get away. I cant go anywhere just now anyway as obviously i need to get saving so ive plenty of time to think. I have good friends and family but i think i do need to get away alone. Think im just fed up with my lifestyle here. Same all the time. The only thing i seem to enjoy is having a drink on Fri/Sat night but its the same every week. Maybe thats why im thinking like this tonight.0 -

Get yourself a tent then you can pack up and go somewhere overnight when you feel need to escape - congrats on almost clearing those debts!!!0

Like others congrats of nearly clearing the debt! Sounds like you're in a rut...have you got any hobbies? HAd careers couns etc? When I feel like this have tried to look at what it is that is making me unhappy because if I'm unhappy here I'll be unhappy there IYKWIM? Possibly need to look at that? Re places like Australia why dont you investgate & use the internet to find out of you could move (various processes, places etc) so that you can at least see if its a realistic goal? Hope this was of help? Good luck with whatever you decide! I always wanted to move to New York but think in hindsight it was just the shopping & when I went there realised that they were so rude that it would get me down day in day out!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1!
