Accrued £190 of bank charges because of them- help!

Help!

My account which I use rarely was just below my overdraft limit. Halifax then took £1.11 out as interest and took me over my limit. They then charged me another £30 then another 74p interest and now have hit me with £155 for last month- a £5 a day for unarranged overdraft!

I am so angry! I was within my limit and so didn't check my account as I only use it occasionally and usually keep it topped up. Now I owe nearly £300 to get out of this continuing mess.

Halifax say this will continue until I pay it back so I will be charged more. Please help!!!

What should I do. In theory I could pay the money but I'm furious that I will lose £300 for nothing.
