Mot

My MOT will run out in april so I am going to get it tested sometime next week as I know it is going to fail. Does it matter where I get it tested as I know which garage I want the repairs done it but I don't think they do MOT tests.

If you trust the garage (which i'm assuming you do as you want them to do any work required) ask them to take care of it.
If they dont do MOT's themselves, they will probably have somewhere they take them to that they have a good relationship with.
  • You can get it MOTed at any testing centre, then even if it fails you can drive it to another garage for repairs to be done.... however, when you take it back to the original centre for the retest, they are then entitled to charge you again for the test... I do all my own repairs, and my tester is very understandin... either only charges me the retest, or, if its something little and i fix it same day, nothing at all....

You can go to any approved MOT testing centre. The place I use only do MOTs, it gives some confidence that they will do a fair test as there is no additional work in for them. Some places offer a free re-test if you bring it back within a certain number of days.

One tip is to take your car for its MOT up to 28 days before it is due to expire. If it passes then your new MOT starts from when the old one expires. If it fails, then at least you have plenty of time to see about getting it fixed.

    Use a council MOT centre.

It would make more sense to fix what you know it's going to fail on then you may only have one visit for the MOT.;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

go to your local man, tell him to bring it up to mot standard and get it tested all on 1 bill. no un-nessacary work and only one test fee.

You can - or certainly could in Leeds - go to the place where they test the council vehicles, where they'll do just the testing.
