Chicken Manure Pellets & rhubarb

I have a large bag of these and today after discussing some rhubarb I bought for a friend I suggested it might be OK to mix with the compost when he plants the rhubarb.
Now I am not sure. Is it suitable or not; does anyone know? While we are at it, what is it good for? Don't know why I bought such a large bag!:o

I've used them for ages as a general fertiliser scattered on the borders and they have worked well. I usually do it when rain is forecast so they break down. One word of warning though the dog will eat them if she gets chance though with no apparent ill effects

Yeah they will do just the job.

They are pellets though and not fresh? If fresh you will need to leave them a while before adding

Home made compost? If so add one (man's) handful of chicken pellets per builders bucket of compost. The rhubarb will lap it up.

Thank you all now I will have to take him a bag of the pellets. He relies on me to give gardening advice etc etc. He is in a wheelchair and cannot walk at all so I suppose his wife has to do all these things for him.She must love me!
  • I have got a drum of this that I bought last year but I've just recently got four chickens that roam around the garden(well destroy the garden would be a better description but that's another story) would they eat these and if so do you think it would harm them?
