Finding out offers accepted on house

Hi

I am currently trying to sell my house due to moving jobs. As I couldn't afford to rent somewhere and keep paying the rent I had to make the decision to rent my house out. I know it probaly isn't helping having tenants in while trying to sell but there was no other way to do it.

There was another house on my street up for sale and I have notice its recently gone to SSTC.

Is there anywhere where I can find out the offer on the house or will I have to wait till the sale has gone through to find out?

Thanks for in advance

You'll probably have to wait for it to appear on the land registry site-can take a few months. What was the price like compared to yours and how long has it been on the market for?

It was up for the same price, needs more work than mine as my house has new bathroom, kitchen etc. Came on the market couple of weeks after mine.

My tenants are now on a periodic tenancy so if I was to find a buyer I can give the tenants 2 months notice to vacate.

I'm not looking to buy in my new location but would just like to sell the house and not have to worry about it.

How long have you had yours on the market for? You could always ring the agent that sold it and pretend to be a surveyor collecting comparables. It's a bit naughty, but generally the agent will tell you. Something like "Oh hi it's sharpee from sharpee surveyors, I noticed you've sold one down x road and I'm doing a mortgage valuation for one round the corner, could you let me know what it sold for?"

Princessamy....shh don't tell everyone this :rotfl:
My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)

I would try asking the agent, if they think they might be able to get another house on the books then they might be willing to tell you. If you dont ask, you dont get.

Might also be worth a cheeky anonymous call to the EA posing as a potential buyer or gazumper. Some agents have looser tongues and morals than others.

    Get outta here.

You're telling us that if you received a call like this, you might just tell them, rather than asking for a return phone number for Sharpes and phoning them back.....?

If a surveyor (supposedly) phoned you and withheld their number, wouldn't you be just a little suspicious......?

...and isn't there the risk when saying "I'm Stanley from Sharpes Surveyors..." that the EA might actually have met Stanley already, and notices that you don't sound even remotely like him on the phone?
