For most people who are sensible, it isn't an issue, but if we start referring to them as debt cards, then hopefully each time someone goes to pay with a card, they will be reiminded that they are simply getting into debt, and the 'credit' is really a loan based on an huge interest rate.0 -
No.
They provide a line of credit, hence the name.
It is possible to have a credit card and have no credit card debt.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I respect what you are saying, and those that are sensible have no problem and use the cards to their advantage. I do however feel that there are a number of users who may think twice before spending on the never never if the assistant/ online payment etc stated please enter your debt card details... they might thnk twice.
Still, it was only an idea.0 -
Maybe we should concentrate on pushing the government to cap the interest rates charged by some companies? There is one on tv (chap wearing a different costume on both halves of his body but the interest rate is at 1000% apr or something equally high..?0

That's nothing to do with credit cards
FWIW I've got about 32K of balances on my credit cards with another 28K available, but no debt."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -

That's what the concept of personal responsibility is for. Something that seems to have vanished in recent years.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
