I am hoping for some advice.
I am newly pregnant and am extremely worried about how I am going to cope financially. The baby’s father will be paying maintenance but I will basically be alone.
I will get 6 weeks full pay then go onto SMP for 33 weeks. I have a £1400 overdraft and just over £5000 on CC’s. I also need to save to move out and pay rent and don’t know how I am going to do it. Baby is due end of Aug and I don't know how I am going to do this.

Just sending a hug, hopefully someone more knowledgable on the financial side of things will be along, but you'll get through it a lot easier than you think you will at the moment.0

You need to post an SOA so that people can see where cuts can be made.

Be sure to include the maintenance from the baby's father.
You should also make sure that you will be getting all benefits you will be entitled to once you have the baby.

Where are you living at the moment? Is it urgent that you move out soon?

Currently at home with mum but she wants me out by time baby is due0 -
My friend was in the same situation; she was rehoused and has no rent to pay (or very little) - things probably seem a lot worse than they actually are esp. with your hormones all over the place. Keep calm - it will get sorted. Do as In the Red suggests with the soa etc and people will be willing to help in their droves!

Is there no flexibility there at all?
You definitely need to post your SOA as soon as you can. Perhaps start by listing your SOA as it stands at the moment and make notes on there to say how it might change in August. That way you'll have advice on how to repay debt/save money for at least the next five months. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Have you contacted your local council to firstly put your name on the housing waiting list, and to find out how much housing benefit you would recieve (this will then give you an idea of what price ranges to look for in the private sector)0

I should get full assistance with housing benefit once I am on SMP. But I need to move out before then. I spoke to the council and because I earn over £16K pa, they wont help me. I would have to wait until baby is here and be made homeless.0

You will recieve child benefit once baby arrives which will help with baby, you will beable to send this form off (form is in a pack given to you by the m/wife) once baby arrives.
Will you be returning to work?
You can easily get your overdraft cleared from now until August, do you have anything you can sell? Can you work any more hours?
Maybe open up a basic bank account so your wages dont get sucked up on the overdraft!
SOA will really help!
I also need to save to move out and pay rent and don’t know how I am going to do it.
Have you tried your local council housing? Might be an idea to pop down there and see what they advise you.
Waiting lists are long but if you are to be made homeless once baby arrives they will prioritise you if need be.
Would your mum not consider keeping you until you are rehoused??DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j
Savings £132/£1000.0 -
You need to check how much the Local Housing Allowance will be for you now and for you with a child - and look for somewhere in that price range now. Once you are on SMP your rent will be paid.
You need to check on the maternity support grants that you may be able to get. And on how much Child Tax Credit/Working Tax Credit you can get later. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
