I would really like to challenge Mcfi5 on the "all LED GU10s are rubbish" claim. Some are truly excellent, but they aren't sold by the big box retailers like B&Q. Also, dimensions are not an issue. 50mm is the standard length for a GU10 and high power LEDs of this length are available. 5W GU10 is not enough to match 50W Halogen. That implies 100 lumens per watt which is not feasible in GU10 form factor. 7W can get close enough. That represents an 86% energy saving, which is pretty impressive.0

Hello,
Have not been on here a while but here are the links to the Deltech LEDs I have purchased.
This ones replaces a 50 watt GU10 light bulb - http://www.lamps2udirect.com/pages/fullProd.php/Deltech-Mark-5-High-Powered-5-watt-GU10-LED/70724
This one replaces a 35 watt GU10 light bulb - http://www.lamps2udirect.com/pages/fullProd.php/3-watt-White-GU10-LED-Light-240v/67080
Regardless of anyones opinion, I think they look great.0 -

I'd like to replace 3 50W GU10s in my kitchen with energy saving versions, how do the Deltechs compare with standard GU10s in terms of brightness?0 -
The standard GU10s will be brighter, yet the LEDs do look alot better in my opinion, depends what you want!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Whilst we all wait for better light sources, feed the existing halogen fitting via a movement detector like: Danlers PIR Occupancy Ceiling Switch at tlc-direct (can't post a link yet)
I was originally a little unhappy to find that mains halogens (rather than low voltage) had been fitted, especially when a couple of them failed quite soon. I got in a bulk stock of bulbs, but they have been absolutely fine since, and don't seem to be stressed by the switching at all.
