Selling things whilst on holiday.

I bought something last sunday which is a present for my cousin who i was hoping to give it to tomorrow. The auction stated delivery within 3-5 days.

I thought this was good so i bought it. I emailed yesterday and asked when it had been sent. I got no response. So i sent another today explaining that its for a present tomorrow and i'm worried as i had heard nothing.

I got a response today saying:

Hi,sorry only posting the top today, ive been away for a few days and only just got back sorry again.

So i have sent an email back saying:

Sorry but i bought this top well in advance and i need it for tomorrow. If i can't have it tomorrow then its really of no use to me anymore and i would prefer a refund. If your auction had said you were away then i wouldn't have bought it, Carrie.

Do you think i'm being too harsh? This is the second time this month a seller has been away and posted my item ages after i bought it.

Carrie.

I've seen people say they post everything on Saturdays.

I think sellers should say if they cannot post within two working days after receiving payment, even though fleabay allow them longer.

I doubt your seller will be impressed, though, as she's within the fleabay limit and Sunday -> Friday is 5 days.

If the seller knew he/she was going to be away and had active listings on eBay then she should have added one of those holiday away messages. The seller should not have said that the item would be delivered within 3-5 days if they knew that they were away.

I think that you're well justified in asking for a refund.

    How come?

She sent it in 5 days as stated in the listing.

(assuming we mean it was bought on Sunday 16th).

It would have been thoughtful to actually say it would be sent in 5 days, though.

The seller posted it on the 5th day. The OP said that the auction stated delivery within 3-5 days.

The listing stated under postage terms: 'Item delivered within 3-5 days'

I take that to mean that the lastest i would receive the item would be friday or saturday.

Yes, it should have actually arrived today, shouldn't it?

Fingers crossed the mail/courier manage to deliver it in 24 hours.

I'm doubting it very much, she said postage was by royal mail standard parcels but i bet she sends it second class
