Electric Shower Quote

Posts: 352 Forumite

Hi,
I've just had a quote for installing an electric shower. This includes supply of the shower (9.5kW), plumbing (about 3m of piping) and the electrical installation from the consumer unit (RCBO and about 10m of 10mm cable). Included in this are all the building regs part p notifications etc. The total comes out at just under £700 and breaks down about 50/50 between electrician and plumber. Is the on the ball?
Thanks

Some real life prices;

A lot depends on your existing electrical installation (RCD protected?), ease of access/routing of cable, connection to water supply etc. so each one is different. Last one I did from scratch was over £500, but cable was a total !!!!! to route up 3 floors and shower alone was £140!0 -
Hi,
There's no RCDs on the existing installation so that was why an RCBO was included in the quote. The cable run is very easy - up the meter cupboard wall, through the airing cupboard which is directly above the meter cupboard and then into the roof space and across a short run of 2m to the shower (inc the isolator switch). Looking at some of the figures on the what price site, things do look a little high on this quote.0 -
my sister in law had one fitted recently (replaced).
the shower was about 70 quid.
plumber was 50 quid and the sparky was 50 quid.Get some gorm.0 -
