If you are the buyer I assume you also need a courier that handle cash on collection?

You could try interparcel.co.uk or p4d.co.uk

Its the insurance side that's going to run the bill up.

If you can give all sizes and value, That will help if anyone wants to have a look for you.

Also is the collection or delivery place a remote area.

Is the item delicate or easily breakable? Many carriers do not cover at all for glass or china for example.

I would be worried with something of such value. You are relying on the shop to pack it well. Are you taking responsibility for its safe delivery? The shop could wash its hands of any responsibility if it arrives damaged.
  • If I were paying £1000 for an item, I would expect free and insured delivery from the seller, especially a shop.

Can you guarantee that if you arrange collection by courier that the said £1000 item will actually be in the parcel? Not just a couple of bricks!

Well it is but it wasn't cheap, same day delivery apparently the overnight couriers all go back to warehouses and they were concerned with being taken on and off there was more chance of damage or theft! It was only Oxford which was about 2 hours away from me.
