Time it takes to apply and get new Santander Card + make a balance transfer?

Got a virgin 0% deal at the moment which started at the end of august and was 0% for 9 months. Therefore my deal comes to an end April/May time.

I'm already an A&L customer and I've seen the new Santander Card which is 0% for 1 year. I want to apply for it and transfer the debit from my virgin card onto it but want to do this as late as possible so that I'm not paying the virgin card off early and thus wasting any of the 0% offer.

Does anyone know how long it would take between sending off the application to when a balance transfer would be made? I was guessing at around 6 weeks?

Also does anyone know how long they plan to offer the Santander Card for? I don't want to leave it too late and they withdraw the offer!!

Thanks all

Expect at least 6 weeks. Applying in branch is allegedly quicker, but others who applied in branch haven't automatically had the 0% fee on BT's.

Nobody knows how long it'll be offered for. If you apply now, your application is accepted and you get the credit agreement then it won't matter how long after that it takes them to complete things.

    top man, thank you.

I will apply now then. Do you know how long should I leave it before sending off the credit agreement? Is the application the time consuming bit or the actual set up of the account and transfer?

    Thanks again.
  • Mine took about six weeks from application to card arrival. The balance transfer didn't take place until about 10 days after I'd returned the agreement, on the day I recieved the PIN (and three days before the card arrived).
