Jumble Sales.... do they still exist?

Does anyone still run Jumble Sales? Or has the Charity shop put an end to them?
In another lifetime, when we lived in a village and didn't have much money, we Mums used to love a good rummage at a jumble, often buying cotton garments to make patchwork quilts, I think this was the true ethos of the P Q anyway, woolly jumpers could be un-ravelled to re-knit as almost anything, and occaisionally a gem of a bargain.
I dont think I have come accross a Jumbly for years, have they gone for good? They were real OS economy
let's have them back, what do you reckon folks?

I used to love a good jumble sale when I was younger, I was always amazed at the bargains you could get. I havent seen a jumble advertised anywhere for a long, long time, shame really.0

There is a regular jumble sale at the church near where I live, I have found the most amazing clothes there, it is run twice a year in Winter and then Summer. After a couple of weeks of each run, they also run a sort of "leftovers" jumble sale, where you can pick amazing bargains of what had not sold at the main events.
If you look in local newspapers that's where they are usually advertised. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Yes, I'm running a Jumble Sale at the end of March in aid of our local playgroup (its a charity). Already have loads of stuff and hope that others have lots more. As soon as my printer cartridge is here I will have to start printing off posters to go in the local post office advertising it!
Pick up a bargain before Easter!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Yes, they still exist. Our local church holds them every Spring and Summer.0

I went to my first one on Saturday
Once you start looking for them, there seems to be loads, but they're a bit hidden unless you're keeping your eyes out!
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0 -
I remember my friends and I as teenagers, queuing up with the old ladies at jumble sales. We loved them, but they, as well as flea markets, seem to have disappeared since the advent of car boot sales. Much as I love a good car boot sale, I do miss a good jumble sale.0
