rbs and nationwide

i tried to setup a standing order from my rbs account to my newly opened nationwide flexaccount, i tried to set it up via internet banking and for some reason it didnt like the sort code for my flexaccount, i double checked it and it was what was on the card, i phoned nationwide and they said that rbs had a problem with the sort code, Ive phoned up and sorted the direct debit out but im interested why there would be a problem

Of course, in this day and age of acronyms, abbreviations and bite-sized logo's, Royal Bank of Scotland now like to be called RBS - they've changed all their signage up here to reflect this with tiny Royal Bank of Scotland lettering under it, just to keep those pedants happy ;)
