All went well but that isn't the point. Surely they should have advised me it was being done? The only reason I found out is because I didn't think anything had been done so I emailed them about it. They said it was done in December. I have to say I'm rather annoyed about it even though I knew everything would be fine.

Have a quick search on this because there's a LOT of info on this forum. No, they should not have come into your home without advising you. They should have given you notice - and you had the right to say no to that time ...
I'd change the locks if the idea of strangers breaking in with a key bothers you.0 -
I'd advise them in writing that they must give the correct notice.This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0
