Buying items to sell on...

Any tips on things that sell well? I'm thinking of going round the charity shops and car boots for things to sell on (either ebay or boot sales)? I'm thinking of CDs books and pottery, but any tips on what to look out for?

    Hi there

I sometimes buy bits from Charity shops to sell on Ebay, and I've found that good condition, branded kids clothes sell well, as do any women's clothes that are brand new with tags. I recently bought a Monsoon girls' denim dress in a charity shop for £5 and sold it on Ebay for £10, also I once bought a BNWT designer ladies top for £1 and it sold for £14! Another thing that sells well is vintage handbags, I've picked up 80's clutch bags for 50p and they've gone for £10.

The main advice I'd say is be choosy about what you do and don't buy. For kids clothes the best sellers are Next, Monsoon, Gap and any designer brands. Don't buy anything that is bobbling or stained, and snap up anything that still has tags on!

    Good luck!

I would advise you to specialise in something that you know quite a bit about and that you love. Any commodity is full of pitfalls for the unwary, and even experts make costly mistakes. Items that can't be sold have a habit of sitting there sneering at you.
It also helps to study ebay and find out what is selling, and what is not.
To buy or not to buy, need not be in question
