ADT alarm help needed!

When I purchased my property an ADT alarm was already installed, however the previous owner said he never used it and I was not given any documentation, codes, etc. Does anyone know if there is any way I can get it reset so that it can be used?

Thanks!

Just asked my OH, he has his own alarm business and he said it depends on what system it is and how old it is, for example Scantronic are easier to do than Galaxy. Some panels can be reset to factory default values if you can get hold of an engineering manual but it's getting hold of the manuals in the first place. Try ringing a few local alarm installers. They'll be able to give you a price for resetting and reprogramming the codes-it'll be a lot cheaper than asking ADT to do it.

Very, very good advice. Galaxy/Scantronic is the type of keypad panel (Galaxies have a flap that covers the buttons, Scantronic's generally don't). If its more than 5-7 years old you may find that resurrecting the system ain't that cheap - even when using a local company.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

Post up the layout of the keypad, someone will probably be able to identify it.

Is it a domestic or commercial premises, you didn't say. Also don't be tempted to play around with it too much yourself, you might end up creating more of a headache than it's worth.
