Yeah I saw the Mazda test drives available, but would still prefer to do a "Proper" test with a dealer on proper roads.
As for losing battle, I still think I'm right, you think you're right. Fair enough! Can't argue with that, it's called a discussion and at least we didn't call each other names!

I've never been to the show at the NEC, but on the whole thought the ExCel one was pretty good when I went on Saturday. Access was easy via the DLR, tickets were reasonably priced (I thought) and the main halls are air conditioned pretty well - certainly enough to make it bareable inside when it was hottest on Sat AM (before the heavy rain).
Like most here, I'm not in a position to be buying an expensive car any time soon, but chatted happily to the staff at a number of stands - paticularly the Jaguar stand with the new XKR roadster who seemed genuinely excited about it. My take is that I paid my money for admission to look at the cars - not to qualify as a potential buyer... If anything my only complaint (apart from the motoring theatre - weird and lacking much in the way of motoring interest) was the less-premium brands (Nissan was the worst) pushing for contact details to add me to mailing lists...
Oh, and check out that F1 car on the Honda stand... Difficult to describe, but all the parts have been dis-assembled and hung up like an 'exploded-view' technical drawing...0 -

Then I realised why...ExCel only has 65,000 m2 space compared to the NEC at over 200,000 m2. Even the main halls at the NEC give 85,000 m2.
Why on earth did they move it?

The British Motor Show has declined in popularity over the past decade or so. Why is this? And how will the new show reverse the decline?
Part of the problem has been location. Birmingham is a fabulous city and the West Midlands is home to manufacturing. The trouble is decisions about where to launch a brand new car are made in places like Dearborn, Munich and Tokyo. Sadly Birmingham doesn't carry the kudos of a Paris or Geneva. But London does. That's why we've secured so many world launches - and that's one of the main drivers of crowds to the show.0
