Making offer

If a house is on for "Offers around 199,950", realistically what would a good low offer without looking stupid? Is there a site you check house prices on an area? its in NI

Why worry about "looking stupid"?. It is your money that you are spending.
Offer what you want to after studying the area, the market & similar prices.

  • there are a few sites you can find information about sold prices, just google. The price you decide to offer depends on several factors. How long as it been on the market ? If it has been for sale for a long time you would be justified in trying a lower offer. If it only came on last week then you could expect to have your offer refused. I think you should always expect to have your first offer refused. When you have worked out what a reasonable price is, taking into consideration what work needs to be done on the house if any, just make an offer that you would be happy to pay. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks. I would always go in lower and when they refuse, just go up slightly. Also keep them waiting between offers that way they may be more likely to accept if they think you are not desperate to buy their house. Good luck, hope you get it at a good price.
