arranged overdraft question

Hi,
my wife has an arranged overdraft on her halifax current account which she has her salary paid into, halifax have withdrawn her overdraft yesterday with no prior notice by letter or email which has left her struggling to pay bills which are due to go out of this account in the next days,
the account is in good order, i was wondering what rights or actions can we take to get this reinstated, or what should we be saying to the bank based on the fact she has had no notice to prepare for this?? and now has no money in her account to pay her direct debits?
thanks

The usual situation with arranged overdrafts is that they can be withdrawn at any time at the bank's discretion.
If there is no obvious reason to you as to why they should take such action, you should approach them and ask why they have done so and see if they will offer some temporary assistance while you adjust to the change.
If they will not tell you the reason, or flannel you off with an answer that is unsatisfactory to you, then you should decide whether to put up with it or seek a more satisfactory deal elsewhere.0 -
if the account is in good order and there is regular funding then this may just be a mistake...
call to check.
Also, usually it is normal to give 30 days notice when an overdraft is withdrawn so this may be another indication that it was a mistake...Debts at LBM (May '08) £5760 - Lloyds CC £4260, Lloyds OD £1500;Debts as of May 28th 2011:Santander CC: £0.00Lloyds OD : £0.00DFW Nerd #1247 - Proudly dealt with my Debts
