They've turned the old British Gas building in Churchill Way into a hotel, I'd can't remembe which brand though. Have you tried the regular places (premier, travelodge, lastminute)? Don't forget to use Quidco or alternate Cashback site if you can (I forgot to when booking through lastminute recently which cost me 12 quid).

Anybody who has ever tried to go to Cardiff when there's an event at Millennium Stadium will tell you that hotels in the city are at a premium at the best of times.

I wouldn't restrict yourself to hotels in a certain area. As long as you're in the city centre, it's not difficult to get around.

The city isn't big so you can easily get there from any city centre hotel.

Try etap, Ibis as they are both very near, also Holiday Inn, Mercure (Lodge) is fairly reasonable and not that far away. Can usually get rooms for under £50 when there arent any events on

You also have Park Inn although that can be a bit more expensive, Park Plaza (Same, more expensive) and Hilton which aren't far away. Holland House also is lovely and only about a 5 minute walk, usually around £70-90 a night.

I know somebody who stayed at the Sandringham, cheap as chips and a good full English breakfast served too.... dated decor, but not a doss house.
