Paris, Amsterdam, then...??

My friend and I are off to Paris and Amsterdam in May.
We would like to go somewhere close to Amsterdam for 1 night at the end, somewhere we can get a cheap spa hotel and relax after our hectic week!
But I don't know where to go. Was thinking Germany, but I've never been and can't find any cheap cheap cheap flights from Amsterdam and back to Ireland, either Dublin or Belfast.
Has anyone got any suggestions or experience of this area of Europe?

Germany is not that close to Amsterdam, and it would not be worth going all that way for just one night.
Maastricht is right on the southern tip of the Netherlands and probably offers what you want, but the train ride might be a bit long. Wageningen is a quiet university town set in lovely countryside, an easy train ride from Amsterdam, so might be worth considering.
Either way, it would make sense for you to go back to Amsterdam to catch your flights home (unless you use Ryanair, who fly from Eindhoven).0 -

Spa hotel in Nijmegen ... absolutely beautiful! Probably an hour from the Dam on the train.
