Etap, leeds

My Oh and I often, just for a change stay overnight in Leeds, usually Travelodge but saw Etap some while ago whilst surfing but didnt really know where it was.
Anyway today, we went to Leeds and happened to come across the Etap hotel.
We went in just for a look and a chat with the receptionist. She was
dealing with a couple and so we stepped back and waited.
They left and i stepped forward, eye contact with her for a split second
and then i said to her 'My husband and i come to Leeds often for a night out and usually stay overnight so we just wanted to call and have a look.
This bloody woman half way through my sentence just started stapling papers together, i waited a full five seconds, she just totally ignored us,
i looked at my husband and gestured to leave saying to him she doesnt seem to even see me. Another woman came out from an office and she started to talk to her. We got near the door and they looked over to us and i couldnt help my self, i just said to her 'You really just dont give a toss, do you' Only thendid she seem to notice we were there, on the way out of the door, 'Sorry, are you speaking to me' she said. Oh yes. I have never come across such total ignorance and i have worked front of house for many years. I have emailed the company through their website and i reminded them that they have cameras so they can see exactly what happend. So, its travelodge for me from now on folks.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I went to the Etap a few years back with a girl id pulled and i took one look at the room and went for a refund, the Hilton just down the round is much nicer.
Thing is that night just wasn't my night, the fire alarm went off about an hour after we'd got in bed.

Killed the moment if you know what i mean.

    Hi Mckneff,

The Etap is well tacky lol, my best friend lives in the city centre apartment block right behind and every fri/sat night we see all the p*ss heads strolling into the Etap prob to get a leg over lol trust me ur not missin much.

If you do come to leeds again can i reccomend the hotel IBIS just off wellington st nr city square, my freind @ work had her wedding reception there last year and the hotel is amazing, mordern, they served nice food, friendly staff and seemed really clean. I saw rooms advertised from little as £35 a night plus at the quite end of Leeds so will avoid the drunks but you have the Luxary of 5 mins walk to Boar Lane for the bars and Shopping.

Or come stay at the hotel of SAZZIE SUE LOL - hope it helps, have lived in Leeds for many years so know what its like.

Thanks s_s, I love Leeds, even just for a day out to wander around.
Went yesterday, had a wander down to where the Armouries are, what a shame its so quiet there for the shops, There were more staff than there were people walking about. Enjoyed seeing part of Leeds that we havent seen before,
and Wow, the apartment rental prices are something else eh. I think the cheapest was about £600 and a penthouse at £1,995.00 per month.

And yes, I will look at the Ibis for next time.
    Ta.

The etap is a bit loud, definitely one to stay in if you're part of a party that gets back there late and drunk... Ibis is good, my friend stays there hen he comes over to Leeds and recommends it every time. Also good is the Park Plaza in the centre on City Square (no parking though) whch you can get doubles with breakfast for around 60 quid from laterooms.com (and quidco too !).

We have I must admit stayed at Travlodge which is pretty good, clean,
modern and comfy. It was just that when we go out for a drink we dont like to stray too far from there. A change of hotel would be a change of a watering hole so to speak.
Managed to get a night in Travelodge end of March for £19 for the room, which i thought was pretty good and a ight at end of May time in Newcastle for £29.
I am getting to be a gallivantor in my old age. lol
