I've had a letter that my job is at risk but have been offered a good voluntary redundancy package.I have until 5th April to accept this.
In the letter it states that they want to hold on to me until 1st July when the re-org finally takes place to "maximixe my experience and assist with the re-org" - but I have an eye on a full time course and could do with leaving early.
Is there any obligation on the company to retain me until a certain date or can I request to part company with the full redundancy package early?
How could I approach this?
Thanks as usual

Evening,
When a company makes you redundant they can determine the date at which that becomes effective. You can ask to be released early but they can refuse and your only choice then would be to leave with notice and hence no redundancy payment!!
I'd talk to the company and explain that you would like to leave earlier than they want bu don't hold your breathe.0 -
Of course the other side of it is that with a voluntary redundancy, some aspects are negotiable - for example, actual leaving date. It might also help if you would be able and prepared to put in 1 or 2 days a week after formal redundancy to assist with the reorganisation.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
