Am i eligible for a Student Account overdraft?

I was wondering, are there any banks who would grant a Student Account overdraft six months before i enter university?
I have an unconditional confirmation offer from a university, which i can provide. Don't know how much use that would be though. Im guessing they would want a conditional offer...?
I wouldn't mind the joys of an interest-free overdraft right now to be honest! I can wait six months, but the eager boy inside me was thinking there might be one bank out there, who would allow an overdraft at this moment in time.

Are you 18 yet? If not, definite no.
And if you are, its not a certain. Student accounts for next year haven't really been released yet. Still got months to go. I wouldn't bother.0 -
An unconditional offer is better than a conditional offer. If the bank gave you an account when you only had a conditional offer and you failed to meet your conditions and didn't go to university then they just gave someone a big overdraft for nothing.
I think they really want you to provide the acceptance letter from UCAS as opposed to proof of an offer though.
HSBC do an 'Early Bird' student account though. It's basically a basic bank account which they'll upgrade as soon as you turn 18 and have a place at university. Eurgh im being an idiot. I got the meaning of 'conditional' and 'unconditional' the other way round. What i meant to say is that i currently have a conditional offer.0 -

Even if you had an unconditional offer you would be unlikely to get one until the summer before uni starts. I remember when I tried to get a student account with an unconditional offer the June before I started uni - my bank pretty much told me to get lost!! Wait until you have a confirmed place then apply in the summer holidays.0
