    Morning Diary,

Been absolutely fuming this morning! Poor DD2 is really unwell and its taken me an hour and over 300 calls to get through to the doctors on their new 'rapid access' system. Im going to write to my local councillor about this as this system is ridiculous. I never had a problem getting an appointment before and now I'm left reeling every time I go through the system.
So she came in from playing out saying she was itchy last night. Her back was a bit blotchy so I gave her some piriton and put her in the bath. By 10pm the rash was really raised and like nothing I had ever seen but she was fine in herself so we decided to keep an eye on her and ring 111 should we need to. Feel like I've hardly slept as I kept checking on her as was worried in case it was a reaction which would affect her breathing. DH checked in on her when he got up for work and she was literally head to toe in this red rash. She's now feeling unwell and keeps being sick which aggravates the rash. It seems to fade in between times. Just waiting to take her down to the drs. I have to say I've now been a parent for 10 years and I've never experienced anything like this.

So should be a NSD but you just never know what could come up do you!

    Il report back xx

    Evening Diary,

Doctors confirmed DD2 is having an allergic reaction to something, doubt we will find out what unless it happens again. They gave us some different anti-histamine which has taken the rash right down but she is still being sick. She's been complaining of stomach ache for 3 hours now which I think could be stomach pain due to no food! She's currently taking smaller bites than a mouse out of a rich tea biscuit! Just had some weetabix for my tea

So today has been NSD 3 or 4 can't remember which until I check my diary.

    Nothing more to report! xx

  • Hope DD2 is ok. My DS2 is currently covered in bites from our National Trust trip yesterday :(, and is allergic to sticky weed! I got such a fright the first time he came out in a rash head to toe. He and I always get bitten, but DH and DS1 never are. They must taste nasty!!

Thanks PLMBL, just after id posted she proved me wrong and started being sick again :(. She's feeling better again now, its only short lived though unfortunately. Just topped her up with calpol and she can have her anti-histamine again before bed.

Oh that sounds awful for your DS PLMBL, I can imagine how horrified you will have been xx

I'm so sorry Mummytogirls, your poor DD. I really hope she is better soon. Have to say where we live I have used the A & E for things as well as the doctor's surgery. Both my kids rolled off the bed when very small babies (what kind of mother am I) just went straight to A&E. You at least are guaranteed being seen. But we are literally only 4 miles away so appreciate it may not be viable for you.
The system your surgery has sounds dreadful.

    Evening Bob,

Thanks for your post. A&E isn't that far to be fair but ours is full of undesirables I wouldn't want to be sat with for 4+ hours. We do have a very good out of hours housed right next door to the A&E but you have to go through 111 to get an appointment with them and the computer decides whether you need one!! Parking is a nightmare up there too, when I took DD1 the other Monday we ended up driving round for nearly half an hour to get parked so id rather avoid it if possible.

Ive written to the local councillor today about the surgery as its just ridiculous! How they can think its acceptable to have to try for an hour to get through is not on. Obviously the catchment has got far too big or they can't afford the staff with budgets, either way something has got to change or is this just something that is going to happen now with the NHS being as it is?

    xx

And no online appointment system? Ours has one. It releases all appointments at 7pm for the next day. Otherwise you just take your pot luck on the phones the next day.

Well done for writing. It is horrible that the system is failing you so badly.

Oh totally forgot to report with everything else that DH had his brief pay review and bonus meeting yesterday. He's getting a bonus of £1500 plus a 3% payrise and..... a company car :D. He does need to get out and about visiting customers to build the business further etc. He's going to try and get a hybrid with the best rate for deductions. They have a charging point at work already so he will run it on electric most of the time :money:

We will get rid of his car and I will keep mine for now. I do drive the family car so in time I might end up downsizing with mine. For now though its only 4 years old so I plan to keep it and see how it pans out.

So the bonus we will be doing DD2s bedroom as she has been waiting patiently since we did DD1s last year. Her furniture is falling apart so this needs replacing but planning on getting the same ikea stuff we bought for DD1 which is mid range and sturdy. This will cost us roughly £700 for her bedroom then I suspect we will try and save the rest xx
