I resisted the donuts at school today! Saying to myself I don't like them works!

Oh we have boxes of chocolates and biscuits in our staffroom too.

I am on playground duty all day Tuesday so was only in there for 30 minutes at lunch. I had ONE celebration (Milky Way) but have been really good otherwise.
  • Well done for resisting the chocolate! Glad day one wasn't too bad!

    Afternoon Diary,

Wowwee lots of lovely posts to come home to :D

Bagpuss, initially when we first ever embarked on paying the debt off we had nothing to ourselves. I found this hard and tbh I was miserable but aren't we all at the start after the initial LBM. Then we gave ourselves £30 a month and its increased quite a bit since then to £200 :o. DH had a paddy when we got to £100 and said he didn't work hard and earn how ever much a year for a measly £100 a month :rotfl: and so its increased from there really. Obviously I feel I get a raw deal compared to DH as he only really 'needs' £11 a month for his hair cut! I have my hair coloured every 7-8 weeks (can't not with greys and my only experience of home hair dye turned my hair yellow!), eyebrows waxed every 3 weeks, I've been having my nails done over Christmas and then any clothes we need. Also nights out are taken out of that money and my gym membership. DH has weights in the garage!

I do feel lucky now I have this money. I've thought several times that we could pay the debt off so much quicker without having so much spending money but it suits us to have a life too.

Anyway went off on a tangent there!!! Today will be NSD2 and then tomorrow will be a spend day as I will call to the farmshop on the way home from work to stock up on meat.

    Food today:
Breakfast: porridge with banana and chocolate spread
Lunch: HM tomato and mozzarella soup, wholemeal thin, apple
Tea: chilli and rice with spinach
Snacks: yoghurt, mini cheddars and smoothie

DD2 is struggling a bit at the moment and I think she's cooking up illness to get out of school. This morning we had leg ache, full tummy, ear ache all before 7am. Tried for an hour to get her into the drs as she was screaming in pain at one point but couldn't get her in. Dosed her up and told school to ring me if any problems and they didn't so thought she must have been ok. She's come home and now we've got ear ache, head ache, she's hot (temp of 36) and now cold. I said you don't want to go to school do you and she said no but she really had headache and ear ache! Her teacher has been off sick since end Sept and they've got a supply in to cover but now he's off sick and I think its that thats unsettling her. I hate sending them to school when they're unsettled even though I know it would be totally not be the right thing to do to keep them off plus I can't do that anyway with work!!!

Anyway enough ranting hope all ok x

  • You sound like me tonight, DD cooking up all sorts of things to not go to School at the mo and I've just spent another 30 mins talking to her trying to understand what it is and still no clearer. Though one reason given was she doesn't like hard work!

I agree re the life, we've done the same to a lesser extent, but I fully intend to increase some of our pot amounts once the debt has gone. Life only happens once, what's important is you are reducing the debt bit by bit!

Exactly DFOD although this debt probably could have been paid off by now!!! I have a nice few years though so I don't mind.

Must be something in the air poor kids! Hate sending them to school sometimes xx

    Morning Diary,

Not even 11am yet and I've been a busy bee already. Was having such a lovely sleep when DH woke me up to say it was time to get up!!

DH took the girls to football training and I went to take my car for a new tyre in preparation for its MOT. It cost £42 which I didnt think was bad. Oh course they 'advised' me that my 2 back tyres could do with changing (they've got plenty of tread left in them!) and that my brakes were now an advisory. Both of course will pass the MOT so I kindly thanked them and said I would get this sorted in due course!!! I haven't even booked it in yet, really need to do that next week for after payday! I also topped up on my petrol whilst I was out.. £30.

Just waiting for my Mr T's delivery now which should be in the region of £68.

So whilst doing my ironing I've been reflecting on my grocery budget. This is so much out of control and whatever I seem to do doesnt last and I get back to my old ways! So my new plan is to have a weeks worth of meals in the freezer so that the last week of the month should be mega cheap and we can either try and save that money or it will just make the last week of the budget smaller from when the other weeks have been blown :o. Im finding it really hard now that I get paid monthly as quite often there seems to be an extra weeks worth of shopping money to budget for. Much preferred 4 weekly pay.
Im thinking meals such as bolognaise, curry and beef which can be made into hot beef sandwiches. If anyone has any suggestions I would be more than happy to hear them!
I'm unsure as to whether I'm just being unrealistic with my budget. We usually have a delivery of £70 from Mr T's on a Saturday and then I spend roughly £20 a week on meat and eggs in the local butchers. This week it was £36 as i bought a 10kg bag of potatoes too but the meat will only last us this week

    Happy Saturday all anyway xx
