    Hi JuneBow,

There are some good ideas on this thread that may help:

  • I'm a scout leader and we give our scouts cubes of jelly when they do expeditions (not on normal camp I want to add!!) these don't go off. Peanuts are good too, flapjacks, cheese is good too though can get sweaty, tins of pineapple are nice though can be heavy. She should be able to stop and have a hot drink so could do cup-a-soups, give her a thermos if they think they won't have time to stop and she can fill it up a breakfast time and still be hot for lunch. I did my DofE gold in Venezuela and lived on biscuits for 4 days, not advisable, but could be done!

    Breadsticks and crackers?
    Cheese straws?

3 days is a long time to keep a sandwich...

A tube of Primula "squirty" cream cheese and a packet of crackers. Packet of those cheese sandwich savoury biscuits. Packet of sweet biscuits.

    I assume drinks are supplied?

I have to say I lived on junk. My mum pack me off with loads of stuff (mainly that needed cooking) and I couldn't be bothered with any of it. Biscuits, crisps and sweets. Totally bad - but true!

I have to also add it didn't make it passed bronze so I might not be the best person to respond to this LOL!

A loaf and a jar of peanut butter

Transfer the peanut butter into a plastic container to cut down weight!

You could freeze sandwiches and take them out at the last moment before you leave on Friday. They should be fine for Friday night and up to Saturday lunch, so that only leaves one 24 hour period to think of other things for.

Take a trip down your local Army Surplus store and see what "Rat Packs" (that's dehydrated ration packs!) they have in stock - just add hot water (which means a small trangia or other compact stove will need to be packed). Those, with some tea bags, kendal mint cake and powdered milk will see her fine...

My kids took packets of cous-cous and noodles ('super' type) which were quick to make in a plastic bowl and light to carry too.

Smoked pork sausage and pepperami keeps ok in the vacuum pack it comes in. Sachets of hot chocolate are quite good too.

    Hope this helps.

Tin of beans or sweetcorn and bread rolls? Perhaps use the suggestion above and transfer beans to plastic tub. Other types of spread would work in the same way, ie transfered into tub.
What about those little tubs of fruit in juice/syrup, and rice pudding.
Yoghurt would last a day or so.
    Non squashy fruit like apples.
Dried fruit and nuts, either separate or mixed are healthy and high energy.
Popcorn is light to carry, quite filling and fairly healthy. (instead of crisps, for example)
Marshmallows for campfires, if they will have one! (Pack lots to share)
Liquid diet type drinks, such as slimfast drinks or that one for convalescence (name escapes me, sorry!)

At the end of the day, it is only a few days, so if she does eat mostly junk, it won't do any harm in the long term, though be sure to include at least some fruit!
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
