Can't use online bamking for Cludesdale Mastercard

Hello,
Not sure if anyone else has found this..
To try and more closely monitor my credit card transactions I decided to register my Clydesdale Bank MasterCard for online banking.
However, I was informed that because I did not have any other accounts with the Clydesdale Bank I am not authorised to set up online banking for my credit card.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Is there a way round it?
Is this common practice in other banks?
I’m a bit annoyed to be honest, as I felt this would help me manage my debts.

Bank of Ireland does this. You have to have their current account to utilise online banking0
