How long/how many months classes you as a "New" Customer?

Being a card tart and moving money around, am wanting to know about this "New Customer" thing.

Different companies seem to operate differently and maybe it depends on what small print on which exact website you're reading, but as the main question asks...

'How long a period of time must pass/how many months before you become a "New" Customer again?'

I ask because on some I notice it 12 months, some 18 months, some another thing entirely.

I had looked to begin with at Egg (which I can't determine how long, if you try to go and Apply on Egg it asks "Did we previously know you?"- not sure whether to fill this in or not) and Nationwide Credit Card, which says beside it if you have *ever* held a Nationwide Credit Card before you can't apply again - correct or false?

Please share experiences or information about any cards you currently know about/have experience with of owning previously, closing and then re-applying for/re-gaining below.

Thanks :money:

MBNA & Halifax allows multiple cards at the same time. Including same brands, not necessarily different brands(i.e. main brand, charity, etc) as long as they are categorised differently. A colleague had halifax one and applied for the halifax plus and got approved with a nice credit limit even though his halifx one had over £14k limit.

Also someone else had a halifax card closed it down and applied again in a few days and got approved with an even bigger limit!!
