EXPIRED No Claims Bonus HELP!!!

Hi all,

Does anyone know of an insurance company who will accept no claims bonus that is over 4 years old?

My last car insurance expired on Sept 06 when I had full (12yrs +) protected no claims bonus. Since then we have only had one car so have just been a named driver on a policy. I have just got a new car and am looking at insurance but no one will accept my no claims as it is over 2 years old!

I have no convictions, no claims, am 33, am trying to buy a small hatch back and im getting quoted over £500!!!

Help!

Thanks
Matt

I have not come across an Insurer who will accept no claims discount proof that is more than 2 years old.

Best advice is to approach the Insurers of the other car or look to arrange cover for both cars with an Insurer offering multicar discount.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
  • Don't you just love insurance companies? Honest folk who never claim, really don't get the credit they deserve! If they did, I'm sure less people would feel inclined to claim for insignificant things that they'd otherwise live with!

    Money grabbing b..... grrrrrrrrrrr!

PS Good luck in your search!

Switching the insurance between the 2 drivers each year would have 'saved' your NCB.

There is no rule about this - some won't take it older than one year, others longer.

eg. Aviva take it if it is up to 3 years old.
