I don't think you can do it online in Scotland which is where the OP is.
But he/she can use the small claims procedure in Scotland. Just contact the local sheriff court and ask for the forms. The max is £3k in Scotland. If there is written evidence of loan then so much the better, or if other friends knew about it at the time, would one of them be prepared to write a note to that effect? Evidence of the repayments will help a bit, but are not conclusive and don't provide any evidence of how much the loan was for in the first place.0 -
Hello again Davy,
You mention that you have evidence of this 'friend' making some payments to you, albeit 3 years ago. This is really important, as it counters the argument that this money was gifted. Not all good news though - I didn't realise in my earlier reply that you were in Scotland; unfortunately, the maximum claim through the Sheriff Court is £3K, not £5K. Also, as the loan was made some time ago, you really need to get moving with your chosen course of action, as a long delay can cast doubt on the legitimacy of your claim.
A good website for advice on making a claim in Scotland is here:

Start hounding her for it, if the friendships gone then you have nothing to lose, it's now your money and your life being affected. How did you pay for all those things on credit card? have you still got the statments to prove whose accounts paid for it? Can you transfer to a 0% to help you out?0
