There are the reverse stories on here, people were given money assuming it was a gift (no paperwork) then they get a CCJ approved against them.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

The problem is, if there is nothing in writing, to help your case
It's your card your debt
My ex helped herself to a few grand on my credit card
she was repaying it for a while, then stopped
(she forgot CC charge intrest)
We had nothing in writing as to repayments, what it was for
