Booking for New York help?

I'm thinking of going to New York in February and wondered when I should book. Is it worth holding off until later on in the year for any deals or should I just book the now. Can anyone give me some advice?

Ive been twice, once I booked 11 months in advanced and the other time about 3, prices were about the same and both trips were around christmas 7th dec and 1st Jan. I am going again late december and am yet to make the booking the prices dont seem to vary that much maybe £30-£400
