My ex and I bought a house 3 years ago and took out a joint mortgage. We split up last year and he signed his half of the house over to me via a disposition that has been registered in the Land Registry. I have been paying all the mortgage payments since he left.
Unfortunately he is still on the mortgage at the moment. I am looking into taking it over on my own and am hoping the lender agrees to this.
I received an e-mail from my ex today stating that as he is still on the mortgage he could force me to sell the house unless i buy him out.
Can he take me to court to force a sale even though he is no longer on the title as owner?
I am 99 % sure he can't but that little 1% doubt has me a but worried.
Anyone in the know put my mind at rest?

Was the transfer of ownership undertaken via a solicitor and did the lender agree to the change of ownership? It's very difficult to force a sale, he would need to go via the courts.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Yes transfer was done legally but lender is in process of deciding about the joint mortgage. I can afford the repayments but it may not look like that on paper. Not sure what will happen if they refuse to let him off the mortgage though. So your saying he could go to court even though he is not on the title deeds?0 -
I don't know whether he could force a sale in the circumstances, I only know that forcing a sale is very difficult. As the change of ownership was done legally I suggest you get back in contact with your solicitor to confirm.
