FOS - How long does it take? (2.5 years on)

Hi
I have had a complaint about Lloyds TSB with the FOS since July 2007. It was reviewed by an adjudicator in July 2008 who ruled in my favour. Lloyds disagreed and requested that the complaint go to the Ombudsman. Somehow, this never happened and after a number of chasing up emails from myself and no explaination, the complaint is being seen be a second adjudicator.
Can anyone tell me if this is unusual, and how much longer things should be?
Thanks

Hi there
This is taking a long time isn't it?
I know they have large volumes of complaints to deal with, but hopefully they will deal with this for you soon, fingers crossed.
It is worth contacting the FOS every few weeks to ask for an update, if your struggling and in hardship, do also let them know.;)
Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm aware there is a backlog, but I'm confused by the fact I have had 2 adjudicators looking at my case within such a wide time period. If one has already found in my favour, can another one find in the bank's favour? Why did the first decision not get taken forward?

Hi there
Sometimes instead of actually moving the case straight to the omnbudsman after its been with the adjudicator, another adjudicator can investigate, obviously even though the adjudicator ruled in your favour, the bank did not agree, so in this case its passed on either for another opinion by the adjudicator to another adjudicator, or directly to the ombudsman, maybe this 2nd adjudicator will have more reasons to hold on which may make the bank change the decision, and as they do have more adjudicators than ombudsman, maybe even though its taking one heck of a long time, it may be a quicker method this way, however, if the bank disagreed again with the 2nd adjudicator, it will then be passed on to an ombudsman who's decision will be final and the bank must abide by this.
Sorry if this seems rather long and winded with explaining this, good luck, hope you hear of a good result very soon.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

I have 2 Egg claims with the FOS and they were passed to an Adjudicator at the beginning of Nov. As the 2 claims are connected by refinancing and Egg only made an offer on one, they were referred to another Adjudicator this week.
What appears to be happening currently is that the first Adjudicator tries to resolve the claims by mediation with the relevant financial institution. If this doesn't resolve the complaint, they are then sent to another Adjudicator for a full investigation. Might also be giving the banks the opportunity to review rejected claims without a full FOS investigation. I'm sure this is more recent and certainly wasn't happening way back. It just sounds like yours got lost along the way somewhere. If I remember correctly in the past, when complaints were referred to the Ombudsman it was more like a few weeks wait not over a year!
Keep on at the FOS. have you actually tried ringing and speaking to someone?
Good luck! Hopefully this will be resolved quickly for you as Lloyds doesn't seem to be disputing as many claims recently as it did in the past.0 -
