Underpaid postage and paypal claims advice please

Just after a bit of info that I (probably stupidly) can't find.

Had a card though the door saying that I have to pay £8.30 for a underpaid package.
Now the only thing I can think of that would cost £7.30 to send is a recorded 2kg packet.

There is nothing I am waiting for that I want to pay an extra £8.30 for, so what happens if it goes back since they have a tracking number?
When I have to open a INR will they just win as it's (sort of) attempted delivery?

There's no number on the card (it actually doesn't say it needs a sig either) so I can't check what it's status is myself.

Dithering about what to do....
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I always thought that for the seller to win a paypal dispute it had to show as delivered online. I would also be tempted not to pay the extra & leave it, particularly as your not that bothered about it.
I would be interested to know if anyone knows the official line on this.

If its not recorded and they just want money for underpaid postage it wont have any tracking to say undelivered so you would win any claim.

I assume (though could be wrong) that a recorded parcel would log as attempted delivery. Although it may not due to the underpaid postage.

As there is no number on the card I assume its not recorded although sometimes our PM doesn't put numbers on the card for RD items.

What if its not something from ebay though? I'd pay it and then moan to the seller until they refund the extra charge if it is from ebay.
Did you know you can get Viagra software now??? Yeah, it turns your floppy drive into a hard drive :D

The PO will normally let you have a look at it before you decide whether you want to pay the charge.

i'd pay it get my item and then get the seller to refund the extra its then up to the seller to get any money back from royal mail if they have a case of stamps coming off etc. not your problem.
unless you've changed your mind about the item you bought.

Yeah, I sort of thought it might be not recorded, but then I had a look at the pricefinder.
The only match is a recorded packet, unless only some of the stamps have fallen off, but that's a lot of stamps- it'd make more sense for it to be label that fell off.

It could be something else, but it's unlikely.
It'd have to be pretty big to need that much postage, and we've only ordered a few bits and bobs (mostly from play, amazon and other people who know how to wrap a packet.)

The problem is, once I've paid there's no real way to make them refund me and I'm waay to cynical to think they'll just do it by themselves. :o

Thanks, but we'll have to have it redelivered- it'll cost us nearly that much again to go and fetch it- one of the perils of rural life.

Thanks everyone though I think I'm more confused now I've really thought about it. :rotfl:

We have the same problem. You could phone the sorting office and ask them to describe and give you the return address. I've done this with ours before and they have been very helpful. Depends on how helpful your sorting office is

this happened with one of my patcels and is was well wrapped (unlike the assmption you made in postr 7). it would appear that royal mail have a habit of convieniently removing stamps for items over £7.

had to refund postage and currently putting thro a claim with RM.

can you check your ebay - see if anything has been dispatched you've not recieved?

it IS a RM undelivered card thro your door isn't it cause I remember a while back scammers using this excuse to get you to ring a premium rate number to enquire about redelivery....... just a thought if you've not ordered anything.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
