Hi all, I Purchased a safety gate from Toys r Us before xmas and no longer have the receipt. Yesterday the gate broke and 2 metal bars came loose. My son who is 17 months old then got his head stuck between the bars. Ive taken the gate back to the store where i purchased it from this evening and they will not replace it as i dont have a receipt. Im not looking for a refund just to have a replacement to keep my son safe from going in the kitchen. Does anyone whow what my rights are in this situation? Any help would be kindly appreciated as i want to give them a call and complain as soon as possible but i feel i need to know what im talking about, Thanks:)

You must have some form of proof of purchase for the retailer to act. How else would they know how long you've had the item or whether you even purchased it from them. How did you pay for the gate, do you have a credit-card or bank statement?0

I paid by cash, i only have a basic bank account so dont have the facility to pay by card. Perhaps id be better off going to the manufacturers?0

Without any proof of purchase there is little you can do. The manufacturer may also like to see some proof as well.0

If itbroke so easily, why would you want another one for your baby to maybe get stuck in the next one.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
