Frightened about my future

Hello again everybody,
I am so grateful for all this advice.
It is such a reief to be communicating with people with whom I can stop living the lie I have been living for the past few years, trying to keep up appearances.
Unfortunately, remaining at work is not a possibility - my replacement has already started work! - and it is only the lack of income by my pending retirement which has led me to face up to how really bad things are. I bitterly regret not facing up to things a couple of years ago, when I had a larger income ....
Still trying to find the courage to calculate exactly how bad things are - but I am coming to terms with having to do it.
Thanks again everybody.

Stay strong Mouseann:kisses3: I've just gone through this and yes it is scary adding it alll up, we owe just short of £25000 and thats the first time I've told anyone
, BUT is feels good to face up to it and is strangely liberating. Just remember you're not on your own and everyone on here will try and help:)

Hi Mouseann
Glad you are feeling a bit more positive.
I can't stress enough that it is worth looking at whether you debts are enforceable. If they are not it will ruin your credit rating - but what do you care as you will not be looking for any more credit on your pension income.
Definitely read the unenforceability thread and consider checking whether this applies to any or all of your debts.NR [STRIKE]£5542[/STRIKE]£2771 BC [STRIKE]£7987[/STRIKE]£7700 BC [STRIKE]£3000[/STRIKE]£5100 Cat1 Pd Cat2 Pd Ulstr [STRIKE]£3400[/STRIKE]£3070 TSB [STRIKE]£4851[/STRIKE]£4400 MBNA [STRIKE]£7700[/STRIKE]£3887 NWst [STRIKE]£950[/STRIKE] £700 Hfx [STRIKE]£10097[/STRIKE]£10050 Asda [STRIKE]£398[/STRIKE] £315 HFX1 Pd Hfx2 [STRIKE]£3133[/STRIKE] £3000

well i am glad you are starting to realise you need help, however before you do anythign you NEED and i really do mean need, to find out exactly where you stand which means getting together all your debt details and all your income now and once you finish work. ONLY then can you work out what you need to do and what is the best course of action.
i know it is scary to think about but you need to do it sooner rather than later, especially as you have stated you wished you had started looking into things years ago,
so the question i want to ask you is, if you wished you had sorted it years ago why oh why are you still putting it off now?Drop a brand challenge

Well done for posting mouseann. As regards trying to get the courage to work out exactly how big your debt is - can you work out one each day? Today, find the paperwork for ONE credit card, find the exact balance you owe and the APR you are paying. And start to build your SOA. You need to know the full extent of the problem before you can go about sorting it out - and CAB or National Debtline will need to know this too. You must do this mouseann!! When you have done it, come back and let us know and we can help and support you to make the next step. You CAN acheive this.
