DH has to go overseas for a few months.
Will it be possible for him to access his online banking (bank accounts and credit card companies) whilst aboard, and arrange transfers / payments onlline ? OR will this flag up ?

Some banks can be funny. I have found HSBC and NatWest are ok.0

No problem with HBOS, Nationwide or Tesco either.0

i log in from work even though we are in the uk our ip address says we are in Belgium, never had a problem with any of the banks we use.0

Check with the specific Banks involved. Halifax, for instance, have this to say on their Login page :-You must not make any transactions or open any accounts using this site if you are outside the UK.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0

Lloyds TSB also works from the US for sure.
In some more politically unstable countries you shouldn't really access banking or other 'secure' sites. Also beware of what equipment you use and where. These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -
A good thing to do is have a contact telephone number in the country you are going to and then change your online telephone number to this before you leave. That way if your account is blocked because you are using a foreign IP address then the fraud department can call you on that number to verify you so you can carry on your online banking from abroad and don't forget to register your debit card for overseas use if you intend to use it (CC too).0

I bank with Nationwide and have numerous other accounts and it never occured to me that I shouldn't acces them online while abroad and I never had a problem.0

Generally not a problem. My friend tried to send me a payment from her Halifax account when she was in India. Halifax attempted to call her mobile to confirm the transaction but she didn't pick up (because of roaming costs) so Halifax sent her an email saying her account was blocked for 24 hours or until she contacted them. That seems quite a reasonable security measure to me.0
