Developed Vetting

Has anyone out there been interviewed for Developed Vetting by a Vetting Officer?

Could you advise what the experience was like and what questions were asked?

I understand the interview is extremely heavy going (2-5 hours).

I don't think you're allowed to discuss this sort of thing. My OH works for the Gov and has been vetted - strictly 'hush hush' ;)
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

    Thank you.

Was going to apply for a position that required this but was put off by the who process.

Seems too heavy going to get involved with.

Talking to people I know who have been through it it's not.

All they want to check is if you can be bribed. So disclose everything and don't lie.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

Blackmailed not bribed - if you tell them everything, then you've got no secrets and therefore nothing can be held over you

There's more to it than just you being interviewed

All I know is OH had to show ALL our debit/credit card statements, bank statements (that's his and mine even though we're not married) and be prepared to discuss ANY aspect of personal life which may lead you open to blackmail.

The interview is a friendly affair, you wil be asked some very probing questions and the whole purpose of the interview is to see if you are being honest. Do not try and fill holes in your life, if you did nothing ... say so. You will be asked about finances, sexuality, partners etc in fact your whole life history.

Stay calm, be happy, be honest and above all - be relaxed

Yes the do ask about sexuality and what websites you've visited (by the way they KNOW wich ones you have been to), :-S just be honest, believe me they have heard it all.

I haven't been DV'd I'm just SC'd but my partner has and so have most of my colleagues. It's no big deal, interview shouldn't take 5 hours, more like 1-2 is average, they'll want to know if you've financial problems, anything you can be blackmailed with. They don't really care if you're gay these days, nor about past drug taking. An untraceable close relative is a no no though. You also nominate 3 people (I think) who know you well and one or two of them get interviewed. My partner said they are supposed to interview partner (if you have one) but they've never interviewed me, although they must have checked me out. They are supposed to re-interview after 10 years but they have a backlog atm - partner is overdue one.

Don't let it put you off applying for a job - it's not as bad as people make out. The form filling takes the longest.

I found out a few weeks ago from my employer that I will need to be DV cleared in the future. I havent been through this kind of process before, and Im really worried about it. I get nervous in job interviews, let alone in an interrogation! Can they really check home internet useage? When I was a student 5 years ago, I downloaded some music of the net - will something like this hinder my clearance? If you dont pass the DV, do they take away your standard SC? I have been at my work for a year a half and I dont really want to look elsewhere. I need to pass the DV in order to progress with my career. I hope someone can answer my questions, many thanks in advance.
