timberframe kits

Hi,
I was wondering if someone could give me some advise on the two different timberframe kits.
One kit from New World Timber Frame is the Timber frame on it's own. The timber frame is £15k then £4k Plus for erection.
www newworldtimberframe com/design/hastings.html
The second kit is from Scotframe. Below is the specification you recieve with the kit:-
www scotframe.co.uk/web/site/mainlandUK/kitspecification/kitspecification.asp
Below is the design
www scotframe.co.uk/web/site/SelfBuild/HomesPortfolio/2Storey/Elm.asp
ScotFrame do not offer erection of the kit. Could someone please advise me which house would be cheaper to build. I'll be using very similar materials for the 15K Timberframe kit.
Many Thanks in advance!
Steve

Exactly what do you want to know?
Frame kits are generally the same, with just the design differing0 -
Your links do not seem to lead anywhere specific.

hi stevie
Have you checked out all of the timber frame companies? what area of the country do you live? I ask because it effects the price.
Have you provided your own plans to the timber frame company or does the frame come with plans?
frames with plans do not mean free plans! the cost of the plans have been factored into the frame price.
check out " potton timber frame " on google if you have not already done so.
How much have you looked into this - im not being rude by the way, im trying to help.
Interesting topic. have you looked at sip?
let me knw.

Well I've been researching the timberframe build for about 4 or 5 months now. The problem I have is that my budget is rather tight as the land will be expensive as I live in the slough area.
Well to be honest I allways assumed that the timberframe companies designs would be cheaper than forwarding my own designs, as I thought they would mass produce the timberframe.
The frame from both New World Timber and ScotFrame comeswith plans, the only difference is that New World timber is strictly erection to water tight and Scotframe is materials to build to up to second fix but they do not erect the timberframe to water tight.
I've looked at as many timberfralme companies I can find on google, but if you have any good companies please let me know.
What is SIP?
Basically what I am looking for is would it be cheaper to buy a timberframe kit with erection to water tights for £20k or buy a timberframe kit with all materials up to second fix for £27k but having to hire subcontractors to complete the whole build.
Thanks

Also if anyone knows any good contractors in the london area it would be very useful.0

Hi Steve,
Sorry for the delay in response to your question 'what is sip'.
Before doing a self build, you need to know look at sip houses
SIP stands for 'structurally insulated panels', these houses can be built in a day.
PM me if you want any further info on this and self build VAT.
