Hi guys, I'm on S&P's fairly long fixed to 2011 plan for gas and electric. I pay by monthly DD. Twice last year S&P sent me a letter indicating that they were going to increase the monthly DD ("But, don't worry you don't have to do anything!") But I did; in both cases I emailed them to state that I categorically refused under the terms of the DD agreement, to allow them increase the DD. I cited my inability to pay and the fact that the second increase coincided with summer when I turn off the central heating anyway.

Today I received my annual statement from S&P and guess what? My account is in credit and they have lowered my monthly DD by £6 a month!

The moral here is unless you guys knew this already is, stick to your guns until year end and then sort it out one way or the other.

cheers
