Lazy door solenoids

I have a 2001 Ford Focus diesel.
The problem is that the cental locking door solenoids have become sluggish, once activated the doors are unlocked I can get in and drive but whilst on route some minutes or even much later I can hear a lock solenoid make a clonk sound as if it is has just freed itself. Another problem I think may well be associated is that the electric boot release operated from the dashboard does not always work.
any ideas please

If the anti-hijack is switched on the doors will lock as soon as you hit about 4mph. The tailgate will not unlock if you are moving or if doors are locked so maybe a link there with a sensor.0

Anti highjack just locks all the doors as soon as you start moving, stops people from jumping into the car. It will be in the handbook how to set it. All these are operated by speed sensors so there may be a link.letsbehonest wrote: »Cheapskate .. thanks but do you drive a Focus? my car is 9 years old and this has only been happening over the last year, and not all the noises mentioned happen at he same time,,, Molerat anti highjack device?????????? FORD FOCUS!
Here's how to activate/de-activate it:
1, Turn on the ignition but dont start the engine
2, Lock the door by pushing in the button below the handle, and then pull the handle slightly to reopen it (Repeat this operation three times)
3, Turn off the ignition
4, Lock the door by pushing in the button below the handle, and then pull the handle slightly to reopen it (Repeat this operation three times)
5, Turn on the ignition but dont start the engine
A beep should be heard
6, Lock the door by pushing in the button below the handle and then pull the handle slightly to reopen again
A final beep should be heard
To de-activate it just repeat the procedure.
FOCUS DRIVER ONLY DOOR UN-LOCKING
There is also a way to set the central locking so that one press of the unlock button unlocks the drivers door and a second press unlocks the passenger door.
Handy if you rarely carry a passenger.
Single Door Unlock Facility
1. Unlock the car and then hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the remote for 4 seconds. The indicators should flash and the single door unlock facility is now enabled.
2. To unlock all doors just press the open button twice.
Again to de-activate it just repeat the procedure.0 -
