Hi again, in regards to the virgin media 18 month contract i still feel you are paying quite a lot have you thought about trying to drop down a package i am expecting this is for calls TV and broadband? as currently you only pay the £66 a month is if you have the top package for everything TV, broadband and phones and i am sure you could drop the package a little bit to give yourself a little bit of surplus
for example just droping to broadband XL, TV L and phone L would drop it to £44 a month therefore saving £22
for gas, phone british gas and ask them to provide you with your annual usage in KWH then go to somewhere like uswitch and do a comparison, it should only take you 20-30 mins to go through and it could save you some money
and as i said for clothes i have a family of 5 - 2 adults a 17 year old son, a 13 year old daughter and a baby under 2 and i do not spend close to the £600 a year on clothes you are doing probably closer to £300 and that does include shoes and school uniforms etcDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
sry, you caught me mid -editindebtmummy wrote: »no washing machine mean i am using a bit more to get clothes dry in time.
I don;t understand this either, you are using £80 extra electricity than most people because you don't have.....? could you not get some of those £5 racks from argos to dry clothes on?0 -
have you applied for a student loan as well as the benefits you already get?? you may also be able to get child maintenance - contact CSA. also check that you are getting the correct tax credits - it is usually based on last years income.
i work for council tax in scotland and here in scotland all students are completely exempt from water charges - could you check this in your area??
not sure if working would be very beneficial but even working the spare 5 hours at £5.00 per hour would be an extra £100.00 per month - you'd have to check if this would affect you housing and council tax benefit??
hope that helps!0 -

hi
just a thought but have you tried to get rehoused nearer to your sons school so that he doesnt need to get bus this may also help with shopping as may be easier to get to a variety of shops, just a thought as you say your in a 2 bed yet i believe you would qualify for a 3 bed as you have 2 children of different sexes and council have to are at least used to have to make sure that once a certain age children of different sexes didnt share a room0 -
