Small loan to buy a horse

Hi horseless. When I learned about the MSE philosophy I did just the same as you. I saved about £1000 per month on my outgoings and went and bought my horse. She is a 16' 2 showjumper. I knew that i wouldn't be able to part with a horse as i had wanted one all my life. I had done all the sensiblecheap ways of helping everyone else and then due to OH saying-"just buy one"(no moneysaver nor horse experienced) I gave in.
I bought her on a cc. She is on 0%. I tart her about carefully. Running costs are high. As you have explained you are experienced in this. I have found lots of moneysaving ways of buying her all her stuff, she gets what she needs and what I can afford.
Just to remind people, the site is about saving money. Martin doesn't say don't spend, just be careful about what you can afford and don't pay a penny extra. I am not encouraging Horseless to get into debt. If she wants a loan then there are loan comparisons on the main site. If she can cope with and naturally reads up on being a cc tart then so be it.
The decision isn't to buy the horse or whether she can afford the costs (One place near here asks for £140 per week) but how to get a cheap loan.
However must explain Horseless that these MSE people are always concerned about your best interests and support many many people with major debt problems and those who find dealing with money and debt a minefield.
I was going to set up a horse owners moneysaving thread, where we could all share our tips.
All thebest,

Yeah, but why don't you get a car?
You do realise they go faster than horses?0 -
that's really useful - thanks!!!:rolleyes:0

Horses hold their value or increase their value. Cars don't. I have thought about this before."You can if you think you can."

Horesless don't you dare get a bad rate! Then again that is why you posted. I think 0% is a good rate. Oh I also got some nice freebies too. Magazine for 6 mths, cd player, watch(Am hoping for a free saddle or Rambo rug!!!!!!:rotfl: ). He He. There is always the tart alert to help.:T
However if you want a loan, fine.
Happy days.

Just bought one on the condition that he passes the vetting on Tuesday
He's a 16h 6yr old bay gelding thoroughbred!! He's absolutely gorgeous and he arrives tomorrow!!
Can't wait - I have five weeks summer holidays to spend with him!! :j
Careful girl - will see if i can think of anything to post on your thread.0 -
Oh Wow!:D
So lovely! Hope he passes, mine did to a certain extent. She is a showjumper who is back at knee. She has jumped with Whittakers yard. I think she was sold as the owner knew that out of all her horses mine was most likely to go lame. She is a 16'2 pure Dutch Warmblood. She passed on the conditions that i would not use her too much for jumping and crosscountry. She has such a huge jump that I often fall off anyway, so i am concentrating on the dressage. She has learned to hack alone and has become less of a townie. She has had to cope with deer and pheasants and naturally farm animals.
Don't set me off!!
Good luck!! Hope all goes well with him. Where did you find him?
