Fake Lyle & Scott cardigan

Hi,
my partner recently treated himself to a Lyle and Scott cardigan. he bought one last year for £90 from urban outfitters, but it seems to have stretched or he has lost weight... so he wanted a new one. he saw the same cardigan for £70 in St Johns Precinct in liverpool. it wasn't a stall or anything, it was a permanent shop and had all the labels on you would expect. When he got home he compared it to his other one and noticed very small differences, he contacted Lyle and Scott and told them the details of the differences and they have confirmed that it is fake.
He says he's going to take it back but i already know that they will be very difficult, as its not the type of shop you would take things back to. Any advice on what to say when going in?
I'm sure that Lyle and Scott will be looking into it cos it doesn't really look good on them, but it doesn't help him get his £70 back!!
Thanks in advance

If they're selling fakes then your local Trading Standards would be your first point of call.0

Contact trading standards with the details, knowingly selling counterfeit goods is illegal.
It may be worth contacting the shop as well and giving the benefit of the doubt, they might not have know it to be fake, shops can sometimes be scammed by suppliers. If they don't immediately offer a refund though then just forget dealing with them directly and pursue them through TS.0 -
However, contacting the shop may tip them off.0
